Queen Rania – The Social Media Expert

Queen Rania

Royalties are not the same when it comes to communicating to societies. Some of them prefer hiding in their palaces, others prefer to get out and talk to their people or the world. But those who get out and engage are not all the same. My favorite ever is Rania, the Queen of Jordan, and I don’t think there is anyone of royal status or a real message that managed to achieve what she did using social media.

Her YouTube channel received over 819,515 visits to date and with 19 official videos that scored tens of millions of views the Jordanian Queen won the hearts of many.

Whether she is defending Islam, encouraging women or talking to children, she always managed to be creative.

Queen Rania also very recently joined Twitter, she has almost 19,000 followers in 3 days. I love her tweets, very real, random and meaningful.

Her first tweet was: “Salaam! Last time you heard from me, we worked together to breakdown stereotypes”.

I loved this tweet as well: “Wknd begins for us, watching Matthew McConaughey in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Glad I'm not single. It's vicious out there!”

She just knows what she is doing. She is talking in a language the whole world understands. You also have to check out her Facebook page. It's very interesting.

Peace and respect Queen Rania, you are an example of success that should be followed.

God bless Her Highness …

For someone who is neutral about Queen Rania, I think her Twitter case study (which it has become in a very short time) shows how celebrities/royalty/brands can utilize social media while appearing genuine and real. Rarely is the public let in on lives of royalty (esp in this region), so it is refreshing to know the little details she tweets about.

As many celebrities/brands have some sort of representation online (blogs/twitter/fb pages), many of these brands' ‘cyber identity’ feel like a marketing gimmick and appear forced just like someone trying too hard to be cool. The Queen though, seems to be the right degree of cool!
